Some of the leading lights of Spectroscopy have now agreed to come and share their
knowledge and advice for this spectroscopy workshop. Apart from Robin Leadbetter,
David Boyd and Andy Wilson from UK we also have Olivier Thizy and Francois Teyssier
from France who have all agreed to come.
Here is the provisional programme:

Spectroscopy workshop 10th Oct 2015 at the NLO

11:00 Welcome and introduction - David Strange/Roger Pickard
General Overview Of Spectroscopy
11:10 Why we do Spectroscopy, Olivier Thizy
12:10 My initial steps with a L200 spectrograph, Andy Wilson
12:40 How we do Spectroscopy: preparation, acquisition and data reduction, Robin Leadbeater
13:10 Lunch

Examples Of Work & Results
14:15 Very low resolution - observing a fast transient of a T Tauri star, Robin Leadbeater
14:45 Observations with a with a LISA spectrograph, David Boyd

15:30 Tea
Examples Of Work & Results (Continued)
16:15 Confirming and classifying a supernova, Robin Leadbeater
16:45 Radial velocity measurements of Deneb, Robin Leadbeater
17:15 Be stars long term monitoring, BeSS database and general pro/am collaboration in spectroscopy, Olivier Thizy

17:45 Closing remarks

With Friday and/or Saturday evenings as general discussion and eventually live observations if weather and venue allow...?

In the evening we could do some software demo. I agree with Robin we should try to keep away from specific software during the day (ie: press X button, then press Y...) but instead highlighting the steps to do and why. We can lose the audience in software specific demo specially as not everyone is using the same software. The how to do it depends on each software and can be looked in smaller groups during the evening.

Would have thought so, as the cost includes buffet lunch and room hire.
I have charged them our normal room hire rate, and I think Connie Hartnell
is charging £9/£10 for food. I haven't been advised of the final cost at the
moment.
