I've been a member of the NLO for about 6 months and am finally starting to find my feet! I've spoken to a few of you already on a Friday evening, seeking advice on 'which telescope/mount' to buy (very helpful - much appreciated!). After lots of thinking and research I think I want something I can use to both observe and photograph deep space objects (using my DSLR, and maybe a cheap web cam), rather than the planets and moon. I've been looking at the Skywatcher EQ5 Pro Syncscan Go-To and the Celestron CG-5 GT Go-To. It would be great if I could find something similar (or better!) second hand, plus an appropriate scope (I'm a bit stuck on that though!).
If any of you hear of second hand stuff can you give me a shout? I'll be down at the NLO friday night :-)
A good place to find second hand is...
Celestron 9.25" SCT - Celestron 6" SCT (*2) - Williams Optics ZS70 - Williams Optics ZS66 - Coronado PST
NEQ6 Pro Mount - CG5-GT - Celestron Nexstar SE - Skywatcher All-View Mount
Atik 460 EX CCD -Atik 314L CCD - Atik Titan CCD - Atik OAG - Atik EFW2 - Canon 350D
Lumenera 120M cam. Microsoft Lifecam HD - SPC900NC - Various filters and stuff.
U816 Quadcopter (THE BEAST!)
CALL SIGN - M6OCO
Hello JoC, if you see something on the ABS website put a post up here in the What's New section and someone will give you an opinion. You can't really go wrong with an HEQ5 Pro or CG5GT but the latter if bought new is best bought together with a scope, C6, C8 SCT or Newtonion, have a look onthe FirstLight Optics website.
Takahashi TSA102S, William Optics GT81 and Zenithstar 66SD APO, 5" AE Luton Refractors, , Celestron C8 SCT, Coronado PST, Mounts: Skywatcher NEQ6 & iOptron Mini Tower Pro, Meade 5000 series EP's and other bits, Atik Titan, Meade DSI, Lumenera LM075 Mono CCD's, Canon 5D mk3, Atik manual filter wheel, Baader filters.
Welcome JoC! There is a C6 and CG5 on astro buy and sell at the moment. http://www.astrobuysell.com/uk/propview.php?view=71710
Lots of bits. Some useful, some not.
